Poor material

I bought this brand hiking boot before. It has excellent outside and comfortable inside, but I never know it has very port middle layer stuff between sole bottom and boot body. I only wear several time, the boot body and sole were separated and no any way can repair. boot body and sole are still very new. Don't buy this kind of boot. If need, I will add a picture.

Love these but PLEASE GO .5 smaller!

These boots are epic and have withstood the test of time with this classic look. My only recommendation for everyone out there is to please order .5 / half size smaller than you would normally wear. For example I normally wear a 10 but these do not fit in a 10 they are huge and a 9 is just too small. The 9.5 isn't perfect and it still fits big but there is no in between there seems to be a big difference even in half size jumps I recommend going exactly 1/2 size smaller and it will be a little big but not toe crushing like 1 size smaller is for these boots.

Many of the delam pics show boots with very few creases or scuffing. My guess is that these users stored their boots until their ‘big trip’ and then encountered delam. I’ve section hiked the AT north of NJ, climbed all of the ME and VT 4K peaks, and have used these with snowshoes and crampons. For seven years (using at least twice a week) I estimate I have 2000+ miles on mine. Not a single sign or hint of delamination. That being said, I also live and hike in the NE where it is relatively humid and cool- not too dry. I wonder if continued storage (such as storage in a car) at temps above 90 are to blame. Either that, or my 2014 TPS is an anomaly!

Amazing boots!

I worked on a backcountry trail crew this past season working on various sites walking over 10 miles a day and half the summer working on a 14er. Out of a group of 10, my crew leader and I were the only people who didn't have foot issues. My crew lead was entering her second full season in her pair and mine will be entering their second this spring. Ankle deep in many streams and creeks and always stayed totally dry. These boots are bulletproof. I would recommend to anyone looking for a sturdy, heavy duty boot. Just keep up with regular maintenance and these boots will work wonders!

Pretty good boots

I have had a few pairs of these over the last 10 years, it is the only hiking boot I have worn. Every time the fabric at the boot separates from the gortex within the first few years. This is annoying because it allows debris to fall in-between the gortex membrane and the leather on the boot. On my latest pair of boot the adhesive in-between the gortex membrane and the sole of the boot near the arch actually bunched up creating a small ridge that I could feel through the insole of the boot and became extremely uncomfortable on a long hike. to remedy this I peeled the gortex membrane away from the boot and down to where the problem was and scraped the excess adhesive away. These issues didn't manifest until after a year or two of heavy use so I am not upset about it but it would be nice if they were a little more trouble free until the sole is shot.

I maintain hiking trails in the Davis Mountains of W. Texas and just received my sixth pair over the years of this version Asolo hiking boots or the earlier version this one replaced. All pairs wore well, required little break in, run true to size and highly recommended. Most of the terrain I work is rocky. The soles are firm which you wanting in a backpacking boot so feet don't get beat up. You will not regret your purchase. Steve

Great Boot

After 3 years of service these trusty old boots will be retired to canoe tripping duty (they still have life) and I will be purchasing another pair for daily use. I work outside in the bush daily and they also get worked on weekends. My wife says I wear them 300 days per year and she's probably right. I emailed Asolo about the delamination problem. They told me the glue dries out if you stuff them into the closet for 2 years and don't use them, so put them to work! This is my second pair, I have never had a problem and would recommend strongly.

Best boots by far!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
This makes my 5th pair over the last 15 years. I work as a lineman in telecommunications and wear these almost every day. I don't know what these people are doing to their boots that gave bad reviews, but maybe try not sleeping with your feet in the creek? A little care and these boots will last you 2-3 years of EVERY DAY use. Too bad Asolo has discontinued them. :(
