Seems nice except seams. Poor management

For the shirt I give 3 stars. Customer service also 3 stars. The issue is that I used summit points and received a used item (second time in 2 months) I already have this shirt and have used it in the past. The seams are prone to giving out which isn’t good but the shirt material itself is excellent and works extremely well. I just ordered another one and The shirt I just received is missing tags, has serious thread pulls AND appears to have been used, washed, and shrunk. THING THAT REALLY CONCERNS ME IS the customer service agent at Backcountry tried to barter with me to get me to keep damaged and used products (again without tags!) after I explicitly explained that it appears to have been shrunk before it was sent to me. For the sizing I compared it to the shirt I received in my previous order. So if I say “I’m not happy and you sent me a used, damaged, obviously pre-worn item, shrunk item” then why are you still trying to sell it to me? That’s a serious caveat for any customer. I guess if it had fit me I would’ve taken the discount but I specifically said it doesn’t. I’ll gladly give up my summit points just to avoid dealing with this company again. To be clear customer service was obviously instructed to do this so I don’t blame them for anything. This kind of stuff falls on management certainly.

Comfortable piece for sunny glacier days, but there are probably a handful of comparable shirts for half the price. Would have gladly rocked this in the mountains, but will go for something a lot cheaper.

Used this on a 3 day canoe trip on the John Day river in Central Oregon and this was exactly what I was looking for. The shirt was very breathable and comfortable even with temps in the high 90's and low 100's. The hood fits well over a baseball cap or under a wide brim hat. Will definitely be using this for backcountry skiing in the spring as well.

Fantastic

Great piece of gear. It's perfect for peakbagging, climbing (cragging or multipitch), or just generally being outside with lots of sun. It saved me from getting burnt at all this past summer. Thumb loops and maybe a small pocket would be nice features, but I don't feel that it's drastic enough to deduct points. The hood is huge as well and can fit over a helmet or, if worn with a hat, offers total sun protection on the face. The material is much more durable than one might expect from how thin it is.

This year's is wayyyy better than the older version, old one was meh. This new one is going to make me get rid of my old ones. The updated fabric feels lighter and more breathable, so it keeps you even more comfortable on hot days. New hood fits really well without a helmet (will fit over a helmet still tho) and the cut is a bit slimmer in the torso (but not the shoulders). Fit is great for any active pursuit. I use this regularly for scrambling, hiking, climbing and days on the water.
