Why We Like The Black Diamond Camalot C4
Lighter and more convenient than ever before, the Black Diamond Camalot C4 brings the muscle without the heft. Coming in 10% lighter than its predecessor, this iteration saves grams without losing strength and maintains the same camming angle and placement ranges we have come to depend on. Giving the larger sizes stiffer stems, Black Diamond has uniformed flex across the line, so the 6 no longer feels wobblier than the 0.3.

These are some of the smoothest cams on the market. I love them, especially in their larger sizes, due that trigger keeper. So nice! They are easy to place and are super bomber. The only thing I like more from other brand are extendable slings, and I like how the Camalots didn't have the thumb loop, similar to dragons.

I've never been unhappy with a C4, and use them for #3/4/5/6's. Smaller than that, I think Totems outperform them in every factor other than price. I dislike the trigger locks on the new 4/5/6. The metal pieces catch, and I've done more than one field repair trying to attach ones that have ripped off (if it's not cast off into the abyss).

Love the new C4s.
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Black Diamond C4s are a staple in the trad climbing world. The newer C4s are even lighter and function excellently. I love the trigger wires for keeping the profile smaller while racked. Definitely recommend.
