Why We Like the Crack Climbing Glove

Black Diamond's Crack Climbing Glove gives greater protection when you're hand-jamming splitters and cracks whether it's in the desert or the alpine. Strong, breathable, synthetic suede leather in a 3D pattern provides a next-to-skin fit and crack-specific dexterity. Black Diamond instilled a rubber adhesive seamlessly to the back of the hand for greater protection and grip that doesn't interfere with dexterity or discomfort. Unlike the competition, Black Diamond's Crack Climbing Glove comes in a white color to reduce heat from the desert sun.

Good crack glove

Like everyone else has said, take what size you think you need and go up one size. My wife has very small hands and she took a medium. You’d have to have kids size hands to fit a small. I wear medium everything and large was my size. I’ve really enjoyed them so far. Can’t comment on durability but it sure beats tearing that tape off my hands and feeling like I got a wax job

Damaged in 3 months - design flaw

First the positive - love the gloves - great fit and feel - used ion granite cracks and felt very secure The negative - the thumb side hole for the star broke on both ends after 3 moths of regular usage. If damage was on one hand I would have doubted my technique, but it is the exact same damage on both hands at the exact same spot. BD needs to rethink the design for the telco strap loop on the thumb side, maybe use stronger material. See pics! Save yourself some money, buy the Ocun ones and tape up your thumb knuckles

It's better than tape. Hear me out. The material is soft and cool inside and tacky on the back. Also the thumb protection is unmatched. It makes wide hands feel so much better. I recently punished them in vicious fist crack. I got up the thing without a scratch (on my hands). I have particularly small hands. Thin hand cracks for 90% of men is, well, perfect bomber hands for me. So I got the small. Definitely extra snug at first. But after a pitch or two, they worked into the PERFECT fit. Bonus, they are easy to clean with a little bit of hand soap and warm water. My 5'4" girlfriend also fits well into the smalls, for frame of reference. Most Men I think would not fit into smalls. The picture is after 5 pitches.

I got a pair of these so I don't have to keep putting on tape gloves when working on the crack machine in my basement. I measured my hands according to the directions on the BD website (palm girth and palm length) and the palm girth was larger so that's what I used to determine my size. My measurement is 8.75", which is right in the middle of the medium size range (8.5" to 9"). I got this pair off the BD site and when they came in I was shocked at how small they were. My thumbs could not get through the thumb loops. I could not get my fingers through the loops and the glove didn't even wrap around my wrist without the thumbs in them. I just gave them to my gf because she could squeeze her hands into them. So I ordered the L size off backcountry, since I know they have an easy exchange process and the large was too small also. I could barely get my thumb through the loop and the finger loops were cutting off circulation to my fingers, but I could at least get the strap around my wrist. I exchanged the larges for XL, and those actually fit on my hands without cutting off circulation to any fingers. The glove still feels tight and climbs well, but finding the right size was a pain. The XL size glove is supposed to be 9.5"-10" and I've measured my hand at least 6 times and it's definitely 8.75". So yea, I recommend it. The gloves work fine for climbing. Good luck figuring out the fit

Really great for lapping cracks

I was hesitant to buy a pair of crack gloves since tape has always been my go to, but these were well worth the money. they are thin enough where they arent like a tire on the back of your hand, and the coverage over the thumb really saves you. After measuring i shouldve been a size S but i initially bought a M on accident, but they fit me perfectly!

Better than you would think.

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I originally got these to avoid abusing my hands at my local gyms cracks, but liked them enough that I even take them outside. While nothing can really replicate the feel of a good tape glove, these are thinner and feel more akin to a real glove than the other brands Ive seen around and used. Perfect for someone just getting into jamming to going out and running laps in LCC and the creek on your favorite routes. HOWEVER, they do run a little small. I imagine Im aggressively medium in just about everything, but the medium in these gloves left my hand feeling a little more constricted and pinched than I like. I have since moved up to a large and like the fit much better. Photo below for context on my hand size next to a 12.oz can
