I've probably put 50 days on these by now. From skinning up the local resort to full-day backcountry peak skiing. They're great for all but the wettest and hardest of snowstorms. But maybe the best thing I can say about them is that when I'm skinning I don't think about them at all. They're just comfortable.

Was looking for new pants for lift-access skiing. I misinterpreted the first line in Details about "backcountry" skiing. Great pants, super comfy and stretchy, perfect fit (I'm 6' 1" 200# with a 34ish waist) but not what I was looking for. Great pants but returned.

Actually fits large thighs

I've been on the hunt for a pair of softshell pants for ski touring for months. I could throw in a complaint about supply chain issues, but the real challenge was finding the right fit. If I have learned one thing on this journey, it's that I have much larger thighs and rear end relative to my waist than the svelte Euro-cut sizing from many touring-specific companies requires. These pants, however, fit the bill. I wear a Large in nearly every article of clothing I own, or 34x34 in men's pants, and these are no different. They would be considered "baggy" by European standards, but to me they are the ideal fit for a ski pant. The waist has plenty of room to accommodate that $25 resort cheeseburger when you're feeling lazy on a spring day, but the suspenders keep them from ending up around your ankles. The thighs are trim enough not to slosh around on the skin track, but still have plenty of room for a base layer to stave off the next polar vortex. The fabric is similar to my Marmot Scree pants, with a bit of brushed feel on the back. It stretches for days. Most importantly, they have a gusseted crotch so you don't blow out a seam on the dance floor. The thigh pockets are baffled so you can easily fit a pair of gloves or your beacon, though my only knock is that there is no internal loop to clip the beacon tether. I'll report back when I get a few days in on the slopes!

Purring like a kitten.

I got these for skinning up my local resort. I’ve only used them twice, but so far I’m impressed. They are light enough that I don’t heat up and start sweating. I live in a dry clime so I don’t worry too much about waterproofness. I might try something else if I lived in PNW. They are great for why I bought them. They fit more like pants, which I like. I could envision using them on hikes as well. I wear a layer underneath, but one might be able to skip it on nicer days. As mentioned in other reviews the cuffs are tight, but they fit over my snowboard boots just fine. I’m extremely happy.

How are these to wear with a climbing harness? Do the thigh pockets get blocked by the leg loops?
