2nd pair of BD Guide Gloves

This is my second pair of Guide Gloves. Unfortunately I left the first pair on the back of my truck after having them for 5+ years and lost them. They're very warm and extremely well made. However, on very cold days so that I don't risk getting cold fingers, I'll wear my BD mittens. I don't know of any gloves out there that will ever be warmer than mittens due to the overall design and the separation of your fingers. Hopefully I won't ever lose these gloves, but if I do, I'd buy a 3rd pair. Overall, I'd have to say that the gloves run small, so consider ordering one size up to allow for better air circulation and comfort around your fingers.

Durable and Warm

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Two seasons in and still going strong. I'm usually really hard on my gloves, and I have another pair of Hestras I use for colder days on the skin-track, but they don't have the gauntlet or the removable liner, so they don't get as much use. These are killer for deep pow days, when you wanna keep the snow out and warm your hands up quick. Somehow I've made some small cuts in the leather on the fingers, but that's to be expected for the amount of use they've had, and they don't seem to be getting worse, so we'll see how long these last. If I could get another season or two out of them I'd be very happy. The only annoying thing is they don't come with a separate drawstring to keep them on your wrists, but there's a perfect place to add a custom one, which I did. Also, I'd recommend pulling the drawcord around the top of the glove for the downhill so it doesn't get caught on things. I've had them catch on bindings while doing grabs in the park and heli seat belts if left hanging, and that's no bueno. Finally, I do think these run small. Large seems to fit me great, but I'm usually a medium with other gloves.

Favorite gloves for the slope

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I’m using this on my third (or possibly fourth) season. When it’s chilly out and we have to put some stuff away, it’s the pair I grab if they’re around. My pair fit perfectly, and stay warm. I recall giving it a few days of runs to break in but once there, feel like— well— a glove. Sure, there are some issues with dexterity, but if you’re just rolling up gates or poles, chipping, drilling, and whatnot, and the basic snow work, they’re fine. I condition mine every season with the same NikWax they supply and they haven’t ever gotten wet (though sweaty at times which require some internal drying). The trick to replacing the liner is to simply wear the liner and fit them into the shell with your hand — no fuss and low effort. Really 4.5 stars +

Durable, mostly warm, but some issues

I bought these gloves because I'm not a fan of gripping poles with mittens and these fit really well. They have held up to external abuse and are mostly pretty warm. My fingers will still get cold on chillier days skiing, which was disappointing since I hoped for these gloves to mostly solve that issue. There's nothing worse than trying to regain feeling on the lift back to the top. The keep the snow out fairly well too, which is nice to have when I am waste deep in powder or in the backcountry for the day. My main issue is some of the wool interior has started to come off of the glove without too many days of use behind them yet (maybe 20?). I know as more of the wool disappears, these gloves will keep getting colder and less comfortable, and that is the biggest disappointment for a glove this expensive. That being said, the goat skin section is super soft and the leather has held up well so far, so that's why I can give the Guides 3 stars.

Dexterity is not as good as advertised. I agree with that assessment. But other than that, these are second to none. I have had mine for six seasons already. I snowboard the way I surf: the first thing I do is use my hand to feel the steeps: It means a lot of dragging. After 5 seasons of use (30+ days a season) in and out of bounds , they needed some stitching. They still have another 3 seasons in them

Do not purchase for warmth

I’m writing a revised review. The gloves are tough on the exterior but are useless if you want to have warm hands. I typically wear a medium in gloves but purchased a large. They are far too tight even after trying to break them in. I’ve worn them in 30 degrees to 0 degrees while hiking and my fingers freeze no matter what. Pretty disappointing given the mostly positive reviews and the high price.
