Why We Like The Chaco ZX/2 Classic Sandal

The Chaco ZX/2 Classic Sandal comfortably cradles our feet on all of our summer adventures, from paddling class IV rapids to just kicking back with a beer by the fire. The double-strapped webbing lets us lock in a custom fit, while the toe loop helps secure our foot for short scrambles down the river bank. A textured polyurethane footbed gives us extra grip on the footbed while the ChacoGrip outsole ensures we have plenty of grip to wade across slippery streams. And just when we thought we couldn't love these more, the women-specific LUVSEAT midsole cushions our every step with its ergonomic design.

Don't like the toe strap

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I really wanted to like these, and they are Chacos so they are fantastic, but the toe strap doesn't work for me. I tried them a few times, readjusted the straps many times but they just don't sit well on my foot. I thought that the toe strap would give it an extra stability, but I didn't think so. Again, great sandals, but am exchanging them for the ones without a toe strap.

Great, but I can't stand the toe strap!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This is a wonderful sandal that does it all! I would recommend Chacos to anyone. However, I couldn't stand the toe strap. It tightened up throughout the day and if you bypassed it, the tightening strap near the heel would be too long and drag. When I first got these, I was so excited because I got the X2 classics in a wonderful color and it was on sale. Unfortunatly, after my first couple days with them, I decided I couldn't keep them and went with a pair of Chaco's Z1 classics. They arrived just in time for a climbing trip to the North Shore of Minnesota. I only brought these and my climbing shoes. They were comfortable right from the start and wonderful for a multitude of experiences (swimming, hiking, and hanging around). I was able to put socks on with them when walking through tall grass (bypassed the toe strap to accommodate socks). I wore them on a 1.5 mile section of the Superior Hiking Trail, and they were great. They were wonderful on the rocky shore of where the Baptism River meets Lake Superior. Everyone I speak with who owns a pair of Chacos loves them and has had them for YEARS. The longest lasting pair I've seen was 10 years old and put to good use. Word is the Classic sole lasts longer than the Cloud sole, but the cloud is a softer sole. I plan on using mine for many years, so I went with the classic--just without the toe strap this time.
