Why We Like The Continental Gatorskin Tire
If we're logging big miles year-round, the Continental Gatorskin Tires might be our newest must-have gear. They’re similar to the GP4000-4 season tires, but a little heavier and slower, as they are geared more toward urban commuting than fast road racing or training. The Gatorskins feature two distinct layers of puncture protection, including a Duraskin mesh at the sidewalls to prevent cuts, and a dense, nylon PolyX breaker under the tread to protect against direct punctures and road debris.

Beefy tire for rough roads

I used to ride with the Grand Prix 4000 tires, but I have switched to have this tire on both of my road bikes after too many tire slashes from glass/shell/metal, etc.. Riding in Florida where there's a lot of debris on the roads, these tires are tough enough to handle those obstacles without ruining your ride. I've seen them get slashed deep and still not get through to the tube. They are heavier and not as fast, but worth the trade off if you find yourself replacing tires often.

not sure what to say
I've put a few hundred miles on these (700x23), and my thoughts are pretty mixed. I live in NH where the roads suck. I had a flat or two a week running my Hutchinsons early in the season so went with the Gatorskins. First off, they are a bitch to put on. Had one initial pinch flat from a improperly seated tube, and a second from a nail, but overall they've handled all sorts of road debris. My problem is they seem to have high rolling resistance, which sucks. I'm going with vittriola Corosa's now the weather is a bit better. will update.
