Candy is dandy.
One of the most versatile pedals in Crank Brother's collection, the Candy 1 Pedals excel at everything from fast-paced XC racing to aggressive trail rides. They're larger than the XC-oriented Eggbeaters, yet smaller than the downhill-crushing Mallets, striking the sweet spot between lightweight efficiency and confidence-inspiring surface area when dismounts on technical trails are commonplace.
The composite body retains a lightweight feel while standing up to the occasional rock strike on the trail, while the stamped steel wings provide intuitive four-sided entry that sheds muck every time you clip in. Customizable release angles of 15 and 20 degrees allow you to bail quickly during sketchy situations or stay clipped in for extra security when things get rowdy. This customizable release is key for beginners just getting started, allowing them to gain peace of mind for dismounting quickly when they're about to fall on the trail.

Great pedal, great price
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Use these on my gravel/ commuter bike and work great. Stepped up to these from egg beaters for some increased platform size and decreased foot pressure

Caused me to crash on a descent
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I've put maybe 200 miles on these finicky pedals and they re-payed me with a failure to keep my feet locked in. The retention system bent while pedaling and suddenly released on a descent causing me to crash. Spent the rest of that ride with my foot consistently releasing while pedaling on the road. I don't write many reviews on BC, but after having this happen to me I figured I'd give a heads up.

Purchase two pairs and both came with the easy release cleat option instead of the standard release, which is not ideal. The description does not say easy release, so feel this should not have happened. How do I get the standard?

Which version of the Candy 1 pedals are for sale? Images show the older version in blue and red and the newer version in pink, is that what is actually for sale? IE - if we order blue or red we get the old version and if we order pink we get the new version?
