Function, feel, and performance.
With a massive alloy platform, enlarged spindle, eight adjustable pins per side, and an obstacle-clearing clipless design, the Crank Brothers Mallet DH Pedal offers the perfect fit for high-octane, white-knuckle downhill rides. This pedal's numerous pins on each side and larger-than-life platform carry you through bigger hits and more gut-wrenching drops than a standard all-mountain pedal might be able to handle, while also getting along famously with flats when you're on courses where you have to continuously put your foot down in order stay up. With a spindle five millimeters stouter than the rest of the Mallet lineup, the DH lends a secure stance that's necessary for meeting the demands of gravity runs, and also rides on both cartridge and needle bearings with long-life seals to keep these vital components clean and smooth after seasons and seasons of hard use.

Epic for the DH bike!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I put these on my Santa Cruz V10 for park riding, and they absolutely rock! Was riding flats but got tired of losing my footing in the gnar at speed at Northstar, so I got a pair of these. The larger platform than the enduro version helps stability a lot, and I paired these with the 0-degree float cleats to minimize that loose feeling you can get from the 6-degree cleats. They feel awesome in the chunk and I feel more confident at speed than with flats. I was most concerned about the pedal feel while jumping compared to flats, but was very pleasantly surprised that it turned out to be a nonissue; I basically can't feel the difference between the Mallet DH pedals and flats when I'm in the air. Net/Net it's a win all around and they're staying on the V10. Two big thumbs up.
