Why We Like The Zenist Climbing Shoe

We strap on the Zenist Climbing Shoe for aggressive performance when pulling out of the cave on plastic holds and for solid smearing ability to top out when feet get scarce in the upper half. A streamlined slip-on design with a hook-and-loop strap eliminates dead space for better sensitivity, precision, and power. We enjoy reliable heel and toe hooks resole after resole with the synthetic upper keeping its snug fit longer than leather uppers.

Soft and stic

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I loved my zenist, they were painfully tight at first my street shoe size is around 10’5 to 11 and I got 10’5 in them but they did break in. They smeared really well and the toe was really good even tho it wasn’t padded that much they performed better on bathangs than my x1. And one other thing I loved about these shoes was the heel they basically hugged my heel and ankles no dead space in them I would recommend if you are looking for a soft indoor shoe. You can wear them outside but they are so soft that they would wear down quickly if you wear them outside but they can sure take a beating

Looks high quality, but way too small

Something to note while considering this review: I'm not an advanced climber (only been climbing about 8 months as of this review), so I may be more sensitive to pain in tight-fitting shoes than the seasoned climber. Heck, I might just be more sensitive to pain in general. Regardless, I hear time and time again that there should be discomfort, but no pain. That makes sense to me and it's what I base a "good fitting" shoe on. Now that that's out of the way, I have big feet, but not monstrously large. I generally wear a size 12 street shoe. I saw that these ran small, so I ordered a 12 and 12.5 to get my own opinion. They were both too small to get a foot in, so I ordered a size 13 (largest size available that I could find). I was able to fit my feet in, but the pain was unreasonable. It wasn't normal pain like, "oh yeah, these are aggressive, and that's the tight fit I'm going for." It was pain like, "I'm pretty sure my toes are going to break or dislocate if I stand." I'm an intermediate climber, so there may be some benefit to wearing shoes that tight, but I'm not climbing at a level where that matters for me. Onwards and upwards.

Super soft n’ sticky

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I bought these to mostly use in the gym. They are super soft and sensitive. I have some scarpa instinct vsr and these are much softer. This a quality sticky bouldering shoe best for steeper boulders or climbs. I climbed a few routes in them and standing on big holds almost hurt bc the shoe is so soft. The rubber is sticky and all in all I’m very happy with them. Size up! I’m a 41.5 tight in scarpa instinct /42 comfy sportiva miura. I bought a 10 and 10.5 so I could size right. The 10.5 was a little to compfy and the 10 was a little too tight. I kept the 10 knowing they’ll stretch/break in a little bit. I’m very happy still 10-15 sessions later.
