Why We Like The Switchblade MIPS Helmet
If you've got a weekend in the desert and some rowdy tricks you're itching to try, don't cut corners on your lid. Giro's brand new Switchblade MIPS Helmet encourages you and your DH monster to get rowdy and send it when you're out on slickrock, but it also backs you up with full face coverage, a removable chin guard, and the added protection of MIPS to help you stay safe when you crash hard.
Not every weekend involves staring down do-or-die lines, which is why Giro made the Switchblade's chinbar removable. Snap it off quickly before you head out on a mellower trail ride and enjoy added ventilation from Giro's Wind Tunnel design, included specifically to provide as much airflow as possible on hot, sunny climbs. Giro's tried-and-true Roc Loc Air fit system makes an appearance on the Switchblade as well, but it comes tweaked to DH standards with a bumper protecting the dial from being unintentionally moved when it comes into contact with your pack or body armor.

Burlier Brain Bucket
Stepping up from a lighter full face after a crash, this helmet has an excellent fit and the odorless pads are a nice feature.

This is a sweet helmet. People complain about putting on and taking off the chin guard but they are just whining. It's not hard to put it on if you have any coordination whatsoever. But it fits my head really well, and I forget that it's on my head when riding. About 30 minutes ago it saw its first real OTB and I hit my head pretty good in the gravelly dirt. Not a scratch on me or the lid. I got it on sale. Its nice with the chin guard off too. I don't use it as much halfsy as I do full face. Because it's a full face helmet. But being able to take the chin guard off when it gets hot or when riding gets calmer is way convenient. That's why I bought it. Buy it if you want 2 good helmets in one.
