Kelty misrepresents entire product
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I was looking for a colder weather sleeping bag for backpacking. It had to have at least 800 loft down , be super packable and still affordable. All of the ones that met those criteria were either off brands or super expensive. I was looking at slightly used ones when I came upon a Backcountry sale of this Kelty. Advertised as 30.65 oz. of 800 fill DriDown, I said to myself it must be overstuffed! And with a total weight of 3lbs. 11oz. seemed like a fantastic deal. When it arrived I was angry to find out it was 73% DUCK down (minimum down 75%) whatever that means, and 27% polyester batting! NO WHERE was polyester stated in the specs! No where! Even in the videos nothing was said. It looked nice so I slid in it to find it really constricting. I only weigh 160lbs. They claim the footbox is extra large, but that's not how it feels to me, feels like there is less insulation on the bottom so you will definitely need an air mattress. It won't pack down like my friends 800 loft goose down, and weighs in at 4.25lbs. They show it in an internal frame pack like it is packable. In conclusion, if you want a tight fitting ,heavy, non compressible warm bag at 300 plus dollars, this is the one you need.
