Why We Like The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Bike Rack
We like the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 because it's lightweight, easy to use, and capable of hauling just about any bike around—short of a 50-pound freeride monster. The Sherpa 2.0 supports two bikes up to 40 pounds each, and it features a foot-actuated pivot lever that we can use to unfold the rack, even with our hands full. Kuat modified the design to create a greater 14-inch space between bikes, so they both have plenty of personal space on longer trips.

Fantastic Design and Durability

Purchased this several months ago for transporting two bikes locally. Love the design! It is easy to use and very aesthetically pleasing as well. Easy for me (50 yr old female) to load onto my hitch and secure. Easy to load the bikes and secure these as well. Appears to be well made and durable. Good purchase.

Doesn't work well for long/modern bikes

I've had this rack for several years and it's not holding up well. My bikes (medium Pivot Firebird and medium Scott Genius) each have a wheelbase of nearly 48" (not super long, but definitely not short). The rear wheel hangs somewhat off the rack and stresses the front tire cradle. This seems to be causing stress on all pivots on the rack. I looked up the capacity of the Sherpa 2.0 and apparently it is only designed to hold bikes with a wheelbase up to 47", so I guess it's not good for modern/large bikes. I noticed that Kuat's other racks (NV and Transfer) hold bikes with a wheelbase up to 50". Perhaps those would be a better option.

Took 15 minutes to install taking the tips from other reviews to follow unpacking instructions. Only thing I didn't like was the hitch pin is small for my Ram. Will use master lock in its place. Other than that it's super easy to use and great tilting feature. Easy load and unload.

I could not be happier with my purchase! I bought my Sherpa 2 rack several months ago. I have used it for several long trips (more than 300 miles roundtrip). For now, I keep it on my Subaru Forester but plan to purchase the wall mount device and store it in my garage. The rack is easily assembled from the box and is a high-quality product. I am impressed by how easy it is to keep clean. The rack holds my wife's e-bike (50 pounds) and my carbon fiber bike. Easy to use. I am very pleased with the product and have helped sell my friends on purchasing them for their vehicles. While the cable lock supplied is good for short periods of time (making a quick trip inside a store or fuel center), I purchased a much stronger lock to use for overnight periods. I encourage you NOT TO USE A BIKE COVER WITH THIS RACK or it may act as a sail, catch the wind and bend the support bars. Instead, I cover my bikes with a tarp after stopping for the evening and remove it the following day. I will not hesitate to purchase another Sherpa when the time comes!

First review of any product (ever). I’ve had this rack for 4 years. In the last year, the ratchet arms have been sticky when fully compressed. I use it all seasons taking it on and off the car for an average of 100 days per year. This week I tried to move the outer arm for the first time in several months and it was fully seized. After serious yanking and copious solvent it came loose but was still sticking when approaching full compression. Took it apart (not recommended) and found major corrosion on the tube. Emailed Kuat for warranty claim late last night (no proof of purchase just contact info and serial #). This morning received a friendly email that they would ship me two new complete arm assemblies. No charge for parts, free shipping. Later today they shipped, arrive next Wednesday. ARE YOU SERIOUS! Nobody comes close to this type of no questions asked warranty and service. I will recommend this company to everyone. Simply the best.

Easy set up! No hassle

I finally pulled the trigger on the Sherpa 2.0 after years of having a Thule and fighting with that darn bike rack and my bikes getting scratch up! I said no more!! This past Memorial Day weekend 2020 I made the Kuat purchase. This weekend I drove from NYC to Cape Cod for 4th of July. Two Bikes were SECURE and easy to unload. No fighting and dealing with extra straps!!! Don’t think about it. Bikes don’t move at all!!! Only negative on it I say is that I have an SQ5 Audi and it does get in the way of opening the trunk. I’m okay with that because it has an easy latch for clearance. Make sure you have the right hitch!

Incredible

I had a standard bicycle hitch rack for two bikes, the style had the bikes dandling from the rack. The hitch part was a little loose and would rattle and bounce. Recently I purchased a new SUV, started to look at new bike racks. First thing that caught my eye was the price, OUCH! I will tell you that is the only thing that was a little tuff to swallow. I CAN NOT TELL HOW HAPPY I AM WITH THE RACK, PRICE DID NOT MATTER ONCE I HAD THE PRODUCT IN MY HANDS!! First of all the packaging and the packaging detail is the best I have ever witnessed for a product, I mean superb!! Assembly details were the same top notch. I assembled the rack and placed it in the hitch, I said same fir as the last rack, loose and will rattle, THEN I READ ON IN THE INSTRUCTIONS, the knob on the back of the tube!!! Use this knob to take the play out of the hitch fit, WOW THIS ALONE IS WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY FOR THIS RACK, the rack is like it is welded to the vehicle, not wobble, or rattle, ROCK SOLID!! Have to tell you buying any other bike rack on the market will not do your vehicle or your bike any justice!! Spend the extra change and go for this rack, you will not be disappointed!!!

This thing is a perfect fit for my Honda HRV. It’s is light yet durable and the bikes don’t touch. Also had a built in lock to secure the bikes as well as a locking pin.

I was gifted a Sherpa 2.0 and installed it on my car yesterday but I can’t get the hitch pin unlocked to remove the rack. The metal flap over the key hole won’t move aside when I press the key to it, thus the rack is stuck on my car. I don’t want to have to cut the pin and buy another so are there any tips to unlocking a frozen lock?
