La Sportiva's Solution has been solving climbing's most complicated problems for over a decade, and the Women's Solution Comp Climbing Shoe showcases the first significant redesign since its inception. More rubber around the toe is the most obvious update, but despite all the extra rubber, the Solution Comp feels significantly softer and more sensitive than the original Solution for a better performance out of the box. It still retains the same aggressive profile, Vibram's XS Grip 2 rubber, and La Sportiva's original P3 Power Platform, but the enhanced softness and sensitivity ensure a greater performance for modern, competition climbing.

I wanted to try these because they were softer than the women's solutions. To start, my go to shoes are Scarpa Instincts VS and VSR, size 39.5 for both. My street shoe size is 8 in women's. The scarpa instincts for men as well as the VSR fit me very well but I absolutely loved the color of these comp solutions for women. Unfortunately the fit was not good. My heel was not securely in the shoe and kept popping out. The over all fit, feel and look on my feet did not make me feel secure as a climber. I ordered them in both 39.5 and 40 just to be sure. Sizing down would not have been an option as the heel didn't fit good in either size. I wanted to like these but they're just not made for my feet. Maybe the men's comp might work but I didn't care for the color.

The solution comp provides the perfect combo of precision and sensitivity! I currently own the Skwama, Solution, and Genius from La Sportiva, and this shoe fits into that line up as a nice blend of all three. The profile of the toe box provides the precision I love from the regular Solution. With the pointier toe, you are able to easily place all of your power down onto tiny edges or cram your toe into smaller pockets. The sensitivity of the shoe and the increased toe hooking rubber brings in my favorite elements from the Skwama. It is so easy to trust your feet in these shoes! I've now tested these shoes on both polished limestone smears and pockets at Wild Iris and on the smooth slippery cobbles of Maple and Echo Canyon, and they performed extremely well across the board! Lastly, the heel on the comp model is updated from the 3d molded heel of the regular Solution. The heel was my least favorite thing about the original Solution, but my complaints have been remedied with this new update. The heel is much lower profile, similar to that on the Genius, and it feels far more sensitive and responsive than the regular Solution. I think this is an excellent all around shoe. It has the precision for small holds and the sensitivity for smearing on insecure placements. The closure system allows your heel to feel rock solid in the shoe, and the toe-hooking patch is massive. Pick up a pair and you won't be disappointed! As for sizing: I wear a 41.5 in Skwama and Genius, and 42 in regular Solution. I went with 42 in these and they feel great. Update: I have now used this shoe for indoor climbing as well as outdoor bouldering. This shoe is perfect for bouldering. The heel and toe both stick well for all of your technical hooking needs. The sensitivity and precision this shoe provides works perfectly on almost any boulder problem, indoor or out.

I've tried so many shoes now and I keep coming back to the solutions, since they fit my feet configuration better. These versions are tighter in heal compared to my orange solutions which I appreciate and they are sticky on the wall. I bought the same size as my old solutions, 37, and I wear a 6.5 in W street shoes.

These shoes are super-sensitive and awesome on volumes or smearing outside when sensitivity is key. I like that they're softer than the original solution and lend to a more modern style of climbing. They definitely run a size small, so size up!

Pretty but uncomfortable

I've had this shoes for 3 months now and they're still pretty uncomfortable. I sized up a whole number because I was expecting them to be tight. The first 2 months I had to tape my toes because the friction with the shoe was really hurting my skin. Now I don't do it to save time but the pain is so intense that I have to take them off as soon as I'm done with my route and the integrity of my big toe has been compromised...I can't bend my toe without extreme pain. I can't return them anymore but I would if I could. I love La Sportiva products but I don't recommend this model. On the good side the grip is great and they help me climb with more confidence but it's not worth the pain.
