Very Comfortable But...
- Size Bought:

The most comfortable boots I've ever owned. Right out of the box and onto the track; no breaking in required. I told my mate that if these boots lasted two years, I'd never look at anything else. Now the "but": they lasted only a year. Both boots have split where the upper meets the rubber right at little toe area - so, of course, they are no longer waterproof. The stitching is also coming out of the leather band that wraps around the toes. Both laces have also popped (of course laces pop but I would expect them to last a bit longer than that). I still give four stars - and I'll still think about buying another pair - because I have absolutely hammered these boots over the course of the past year. Many trips - often over rough terrain - and they have been constantly wet (the nature of tramping in NZ) and often haven't been given the chance to dry properly. I'd really like these boots in a more indestructible version.

Lowa Quality - Tremendous Products

A caveat that I encountered is: I am a size 11 across the board and with every manufacturer. In hindsight, I should have ordered the 11.5. I am not knocking the brand, I just should have tried them on at a store before ordering. I purchased these last fall and have just started wearing them. There is a short break in so hold fast and you will be pleased. Quality and functionality are the biggest features of this brand. They have been manufacturing all level of foot wear for some of the greatest alpinists to the weekend hiker. Enjoy.

If you see any, get them! They are a bit pricy but they are amazing. Someone gave a pair of these to me as a gift and they’re so comfortable and warm I forget to take them off sometimes even with thin nylon socks on outside. They keep your feet nice and warm but not too hot. Even in cold weather. My toes don’t freeze and hurt when I’m deer hunting anymore. Perfect arch support and you cant feel big jagged rocks under the hard soles at all so no more pressure points. Every step is like walking on a flat cushioned surface. 10/10. Worth every cent.

Slippery on snow

I bought these at a local shoe shop intending to use them for winter hikes. That doesn’t seem to be the proper use for these shoes. They’re very slippery in snow, far more so than my everyday shoes.

Will protect your ankles
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Short and sweet - these are made of very high quality material, they fit great, and they do an excellent job of taking care of your ankles. You couldn’t roll your ankles in this even if you tried! I normally wear size 12.5 and I got the 13s and they fit great. Plenty of wiggle room for your toes. I also thought I needed the extra wide size, but it turns out just the normal ones are plenty wide. Great boot!!

The Renegade GTX fits great right out of the box and waterproofing keeps the feet dry on those early wet mornings.

Best Hiking Boots Ever!
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
These shoes worked great right out of the box! I hike for a week in the Tetons and I was really hard on them. I am not the kind of person that walks around mud puddles and my feet never got wet. They are so comfortable I forgot I was wearing them.

This will be my third pair.
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
This boot has been in circulation for a long time now. I bought my first pair in 2005, and I'm taking the opportunity to replace my second pair now even though they have quite a bit of life left in them for around town. I will admit they are not my favorite pair of boots ever; my main complaint being a little bit of squeeze at the toe that needs some breaking in. Nothing ever beat the fit of a Raichle boots for me, but I haven't tried Mammut yet. Raichle's problem was they kept discontinuing or redesigning the models I liked. These Lowas have both stuck with a proven design and they have just held up. These boots seem to break in very fast too. I'd say averaging 8+ years a pair is very satisfactory wearing them daily for long portions of the year on and off trail.

Crossed paths

Very glad I crossed paths with these boots. Recommended by my son who is an avid hiker and search and rescue worker. I am very tough on footwear and these boots have survived over a year of hiking and they are still going. I've "retired" them to be my work boots (I am a landscaper) and have bought a replacement pair for hiking. I hiked all 48 four-thousand footers in N.H (several more than once), many of the 52-with-a-view and countless miles of basic hiking trails. You won't be disappointed !!!
