I bought this jacket to take backpacking/camping. I bought a small and I'm 5'3 and 127#. I'm a C cup in the chest and it's not too tight. I still have room to layer underneath but if I don't layer it;s not too big. I can wear a shirt and fleece under it and it would be just snug. This jacket with layering you could wear out at 30 degree weather. Without layers maybe about 40 degree would be fine. It's not a parka, but it's so light and fits into its own pocket for storage. Great for traveling or backpacking light. Stops wind as well, because the hood fits nice around your face. If you are walking or moving it keeps you super warm., I've even had to unzip it at 45 while walking. If standing in the cold wind for hours in the snow I would want a fleece layer under it. Overall it looks great, so light but keeps you warm despite how light it feels. I've used it at outdoor games, walking dogs, backpacking etc. You just can't beat the warmth vs weight ratio here. With a hat and neck fleece and gloves you could go out in 32 or less and be comfortable for several hours.

Bought this over a year ago, and I love everything about this jacket. the color is my absolute favorite, a deep jade, so its easy to reach for, it is so light weight i forget its on my body, except that I am toasty warm. the sleeves are long enough for me to tuck my hands in if I want to. I have tons of room to layer underneath and can throw my ski shell over the top. I bought a medium, and its perfect for my athletic lifestyle needs, I imagine the size small wold fit more like the model photos, which looks too tight for my taste. For reference I bought the same jacket, also size medium for my mom, who is 75 years old, 5'2"ish and more apple shaped...it looks amazing on her, but totally different. hits at her thigh, completely covering her bum, and is more fitted throughout. the sleeves are super long on her, but being as light as they are, she just scrunches them up and its not noticeable.

Pros - Kept me nice and warm for 8 days backpacking on the WRHR. Did not tear - even when I cringed brushing up against some snapped off pine branches while setting up my tent or laying down on rough rocks. Neither here nor there - a bit big on me. I have a 33" bust and 25.5" waist. I don't mind it being a bigger than I usually like, it allows for layering beneath. Cons - arms are pretty long for me (doesn't layer up nicely with a rain jacket, for example) and baggy.

156cm/ 126lb Originally I got size L, but it was too large. Return for size M, and the armpit area is a bit too tight. I can feel the jacket is limiting my arm movement. The jacket is constantly touching my armpits. Since this particular jacket is highly rated for hiking/backpacking and I got it at a good deal, I am keeping it. But I don't think I will buy it again in the future.

what's up with the armpits?

Love the overall look of this jacket and I imagine it would function well for what I intended it for - backpacking. However, I don't know if I got a defective one or what, but the armpits are cut stupid high. They dig in and there is no way I could comfortably wear a layer underneath. Even with a t-shirt it's uncomfortable. It seems like the smaller sizes aren't experiencing this problem so I think it's an issue with how they sized up the pattern. I purchased a large so there should not have been an issue, but it's as though the rest of the jacket is a large and the armpits are a small. Now I have to pay $7 to ship back a poorly designed, ill-fitting jacket. Bummer.

I got this jacket just a few weeks ago. I was debating between a Small and an XS, I decided on the XS and I'm glad I did! A small would have been WAY too big. When I first tried it on, it seemed so light weight that I would actually be cold or drafty when wearing it out. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I took the jacket for a walk on a cold and very windy Seattle spring day. The Ghost Whisperer 2- hoody keep me super warm and cozy whilst my legs were a getting a little chilly! No feather leaking so far, but only time will tell there. I can't wait to take this jacket climbing! I'll likely post an updated review when I do. :)

Love, but not for women with shoulders
- Familiarity:

While it fits really well in the body, it's too tight in the shoulders and chest. If you have strong shoulders from climbing, it's probably not going to be the best fit.
