Awesome Organization, Miserable to Carry

The pack bag is outstanding but the suspension has 3 major flaws that make it unpleasant to carry. I only kept it because I like the bag so much and was willing to modify it. 1) This pack has the dumbest hip belt design I've probably ever seen on a pack intended to carry much weight. Chopping the webbing and replacing the hip belt with any standard 4" padded hip belt solves the problem. I modified the hip belt to act like a normal one. 2) The frame sheet is a piece of foam with fiberglass stays, which provide no shape. It dug into my tail bone like I was carrying a wooden box. I added a plastic frame sheet with aluminum stays so that the back panel is shaped to my back and not the load. 3) The padded back panel that the yoke slides into stops in the middle of your back, leaving a large edge in an uncomfortable place. I removed the plastic sheet from the yoke which helps, but I will either add padding to the yoke or do some surgery on the back panel. As my pack is currently, it's about 80% better than stock. While these mods weren't difficult, I've been building my own packs for over a decade and certainly wouldn't recommend this pack to the average person.

Carrys great!

Winner of Climbing magazines Editor's Choice award! Super durable, very organized and carrys like a dream. Perfect size at 47L. The duffel-like zipper opens up the pack for good access and is big enough to stack a rope on.
