Good Materials but shaped POORLY

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
Large
Height:
5' 10"
Weight:
190

Ordered these to replace older version of this low gaiter where Velcro just wore out. Unlike the picture above (and the approximately 10 year old previous OR low gaiter with red straps), the L/XL is extremely billowy between the lower portion just above the boot and the upper ankle area, to the point where the left and right gaiters can actually rub together with a fweet-fweet sound on each step taken. Where the old ones had an elastic-laden stretchy material that more or less hugged your ankles that gave a streamlined fit, this is very baggy. My boot size is EU 44 (Scarpa Moraine mid GTX and Scarpa Zen Pro low) so I ordered the L/XL. It does accomplish its purpose of keeping things out of your boots and protecting your pant legs from mud, but I think this product is has a lot of unneeded material in its middle area and is shaped poorly. Finally, the top circumference is a bit large for my legs and the elastic at the top does not draw tight enough, causing them to sag down a bit as I hike. Was expecting better from Outdoor Research, given previous experience with their gaiters.

S/M size different from S/M at REI

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
8 foot
Height:
5' 11"
Weight:
165

I had previously purchase a pair of the exact same product, same size at REI and wanted another pair. Backcountry had a good price so I bought them here. When they arrived I noticed they were bigger than the other pair I had. All the labels on the packaging and product said S/M but the cardboard hanger was a different color (see photo). I can only assume that either the manufacturer mislabeled the product or they have changed the S/M to be bigger or smaller (not sure if the REI packaging or Backcountry packaging is newer) which does not work for me so I had to return them.

RM Low Gaiters

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

These gaiters were exactly as advertised. They are low, which I wanted. They are well constructed and function well. No reservations about recommending them.
