Really wanted to like this jacket...

Suggest trying this on before purchasing... The jacket felt stiff, as others have mentioned. I've read in other reviews that it does soften up a bit. However, it felt "tight" on my back in the area between the base of my neck and shoulder blades. It was also tight in my armpits. Given these two issues, I just returned it.

An absolute classic!

This is a classic. It is not as soft as some modern fleece (e.g the TNF Denali) but it is hard-wearing and very useful both on the mountain and in town. It is very wind-resistant - I use it as a jacket, not a mid-layer. My kids grew up using this model through middle school, handed down to a younger sibling. I've had at least one in my closet for years. A true classic.

Super comfy and warm! It was 0 degrees today in MN and this was the perfect jacket over a flannel. ***Note here, I say jacket. THIS IS NOT A MID-LAYER!*** This jacket does not breathe. It is wind resistant AF. (If you're looking for a breathable mid layer check out Patagonia's Snap fleece) I have noticed other reviews saying this jacket sheds. I have NOT noticed this and doubt I'll have this issue. It does not get 5 stars because of the fit, which isn't awful.... But the arms a a little too long and the torso is a little too short. Buy it! If you can find it in stock! Woot!

初めはシェルジャケットのインナーとして考えて購入しました。 しかしながら、防風生地を使用していることもあり、あえてシェルジャケットを着なくても寒くないです。 また、インナーとして使用すると、シルエットがパンパンになるのでお勧めできません。 人気のレトロXをようやく手に入れられたので、大変満足です！

Is this suppose to be a sweater or jacket? Guess it could be both. Should it be roomy or more snug considering it's worn during the cold, wintry months with a base layer and lightweight fleece/wool sweater underneath. Maybe also a fleece vest. Will it be warm enough since it's wind proof? Note that wind proof does Not mean that it's going to be warm sometimes. Usually wear XL so not sure if XL or XXL is needed as Patagonia's sizing can be off at times. Thanks!
