Don't buy from Backcountry! Out $600

Loved the item, however, don't buy anything from Backcountry if you want to be able to have the option of returning the item. I have been given the runaround from customer service for orders dating back 1+ year ago, and have spent over an hour on chat with 2 reps. I'm being told that my returns were "used," did not have the original tags, and a strong odor. All orders had a tag on them, and there was absolutely not an odor. I do not smoke, do not have pets, and shower daily :). The items were worn for less than 5 minutes to try them on. Moreover, based on my order history, I clearly purchased multiple items in different sizes because I was unsure which one would fit. I am also being told that a return I shipped back nearly 2 months ago (and can prove it was delivered via UPS tracking) cannot be refunded at this time because it has not been processed yet. Because my other two orders were marked as "used" extra scrutiny is being applied to my situation. Now, I am stick with nearly $600 of store credit in my account (when I will never be shopping here again), and backcountry refused to refund my original payment method. DO NOT BUY FROM BACKCOUNTRY! If you do, be aware that you are rolling the dice and will be expected to chase down and confirm your own returns, and you are at the mercy of the returns team and their lack of organization I have never, ever run into these issues purchasing Patagonia items directly from Patagonia, or from Dick's, REI, etc. Even Amazon is way more lenient. Do yourself a favor and just buy it from somewhere else. Good riddance.

Sizing weird but amazing jacket

I was super excited to get this jacket due to its relatively light weight, packability, Patagonia warranty, hood, and all the positive reviews. I initially ordered this in a medium and when it arrived, I was disappointed to find that the sleeves were too short and the shoulders were so tight. I am 5'8, athletic build, broad shoulders but thin body (size S or M shirts, 6 pants, 28" waist). The body fit perfectly, but I literally couldn't raise my arms. I returned it and got a size large and now the sleeves fit--are long even--but the body is gigantic. For shell jackets, I tend to get a large so I can fit my layers in. In this jacket, I feel like I'm swimming in it with just a warm base layer or two. It is, indeed, super warm for how lightweight it is. I am going to keep it, but I was hoping I could layer it under a shell without feeling too stuffed in.

I bought this jacket a couple weeks ago because it was on sale; and since I bought it I've worn it every day. I love it, it looks great and is super comfortable for fall Maine temps. Although I haven't done anything crazy in it- I've only worn it for errands and such- it already has a small tear in the left sleeve. I looked down because I could see some filler coming out, and was shocked. I'm so bummed, as I planned to use this as my go to for fall and spring. I am not sure if it came this way and I just noticed, or if it's something that happened since but either way I'm a little disappointed. The hole is tiny, but it just concerns me. Aside from that, the coat is great and I love the hood!
