Sun Sleeve
As cyclists, we spend our dreary winter days craving the sunny days of summer, and while we love the feeling of warm sunshine casting its glow on us in spring, come July the sweltering oppression of a cloudless day can take its toll on our skin. Thankfully we have options, like the Pearl Izumi Sun Sleeves that offer us full coverage without slathering ourselves with sunscreen, and with the addition of cooling properties that keep us cool.
The sleeves are constructed from Pearl's ELITE Transfer fabric with a full 50 UPF of sun protection to shield your skin, plus Ice-fil and In-R-Cool technology that reflect heat, and elevate moisture transfer, keeping you as cool as possible on the hottest of days. The sleeves are easy to slide on, and lock into place on your bicep with a gripper, so you won't end up with an unsightly sunburned gap between your jersey and sleeves after a long day on the bike.

Works well in moderate heat
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I bought the white sleeve, fits true to size and is comfortable and stays up. I tend to run cold when I ride and overdress but these feel very hot for the first 30 minutes or so of the ride until I start to sweat and then I don't notice it as much, but it always does feel a little warm. I would not go so far as to say it is " cooling". I've worn it in temperatures from 68° up to 85° f and when it gets close to that temperature I'm constantly thinking about taking them off. I've been wearing sunscreen under just in case. I definitely won't be wearing them for rides above 80 or 85 so that means I'm only using them for a short part of every year as I have warmer sleeves for colder weather. I still haven't decided if it's worth the cost for that short time of usage.

These are good sun sleeves with one flaw
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I've had these sun sleeves for a few years now and they are very good in that they keep my arms protected from the sun and don't feel too hot. The one complaint I have about these is that the seam at the upper band can sometimes be a little irritating. It's not a very big deal, but occasionally I have to fiddle with them to keep that stitching from itching. Edit: I fixed this issue by ever-so-slightly melting the sharp corner with a lighter. Please don’t burn your house down.
