Why We Like The Microlight Down Jacket

We love to use it as a layer on the mountain, rock it by itself downtown, and even toss it into a pack for our next adventure. When winter hits, we do just about everything in the Rab Microlight Down Jacket. Great Quality, But Lacks Versatility

Familiarity:: I've put it through the wringer

If I were using this jacket strictly for outdoor activities, it still would not be 5 Stars because it would not fit my needs in the 20-30 degree range because it would be tight with an insulated base layer, 1/4 zip fleece shirt and shell. It does fit comfortably with a base layer OR shirt and a shell. Every piece of technical clothing I own, gets put to the test, but when I buy most of this, I do it with the intent of also wearing it to work, to the store and around town. I am 5' 9" 155 pounds with a 32 waist, and a medium fits good in all places except for the waist. This is the only jacket, midlayer, baselayer where I have felt tightness in the waist with a medium. It's not uncomfortable if I have a regular shirt on, but with a sweater, it is tight. Also, if I have my cell phone or wallet in the pocket, it pokes me when I am driving because of the tightness. I have other ultra light down jackets which do not do this and are every bit as functional in the outdoors. When I tried a large on, I was swimming in the sleeves. If you were a 31 waist, this would be a great fit. I am going to continue wearing this jacket for many years, the warmth is better than most ultalights, Rab quality is amazing and it looks great.

High Quality Puffy Jacket

Familiarity:: I've put it through the wringer

I love my Rab jacket! The material is high quality and the athletic fit gives me full range of motion in whatever outdoor activity i'm doing. The hoodless version looks more classy and I use it as both my layering piece under my ski shell or for a night out on the town. It has a great sustainable story as well. This jacket is 100% recycled down, which you don't see very often. It keeps me plenty warm for being a lightweight jacket.

Sizing issues

Familiarity:: I've put it through the wringer

Nicely made jacket, but who has armpits that high ? I am 5'9" 185 athletically built and i went with a large, because I know Rab tends to run on the smaller side. But the armpits are crazy tight. Even with just a long sleeve shirt it was uncomfortable to reach my arm out.
