Bought these for a friend who's been on crutches for about 2yrs. SO he truly needed some really good support once he took off his boot. They fit well. A little stiff at first, but most boots are. Have to break them in like any shoe. They have been amazing for him.

Wore them the first day to work at my desk job and to unload groceries. In the distance from the car to the house the 2 inches of snow (2) soaked through and drenched my socks. Worthless

Love these boots.

These boots are phenomenal. Kept my feet dry and my ankles supported through several days in the Backcountry even through downpour and a slip on a river crossing.

I needed a good boot for a 30 mile hike in the Wind River Range of Wyoming. I have vulnerable ankles and so chose to move away from lows and mids to a full boot. The morning after the boots arrived I put them on and hiked 7 miles in rough terrains with a 30 lb pack, and they felt amazing! Zero break in needed. Additionally, it feels nearly impossible to turn my ankle in these boots. That is really important to me as I’ve injured my ankles on the trail before and that is very dangerous, not to mention uncomfortable. The lock on the lacing midway up makes it possible to get the lacing the way you want it before moving up above the foot into the final three eyelets. This is a super helpful feature. Excellent boot, well worth the money.

Great fit but...

...not durable and not very breathable. If you hike a lot, expect 1 1/2 to 2 years from these boots. Also, expect the Goretex liner to begin failing at about a year and from then on you will have neither breathable nor waterproof boots. Pros: great fit out of the box with almost no break-in required; a snug heel and reasonably roomy toe box (but each iteration of this boot has had less toe room). The fit is the only reason I bought 3 pairs (~$600 total) before coming to my senses. Cons: poor durabilty, lack of breathability, lack of waterproofness once the goretex liner breaks down, high cost for what amounts to disposable footwear. Also note that Salomon only gives these a 2 out of 5 breathablity rating, so if you do a lot of hiking in warmer, drier conditions you're going to wind up with hot, sweaty feet. If you need a similar fit, but with higher breathability and much (MUCH) greater durability, check out the Scarpa SL Activ. I got mine here at S&C and have 2 years on them with barely any discernible wear.
