Love 'em! Shopped around A LOT before I decided on these. My 20+ year-old Salomon Snow boots finally came apart (the soles) & I sure hated to give them up. However, these boots are a great replacement ... super-comfortable, dry, and nice & warm. I will use (and have already used) them for (cold!) shoveling snow from my loooong driveway, for snowy hikes with my dogs, and for some rare snow sledding, etc. They also GRIP well on ice surfaces, even after a freezing-rain storm.

I picked these up as my X Ultra Mid 3s wouldn’t cut it on my Scandinavia Adventure. Recently traveled to Finland, Norway, and Sweden and spent 7 days in the Arctic Circle. Being in temps from 0-23°F I figured these would keep my feet warm. Having 2 pairs of Wool socks, and liners, after just an hr or 2 my feet were cold. From what I could tell, the issue is near the toe box where the upper meets with the rubber soles. I wore my Ultra Mid 3s in Iceland a few years ago while glacier hiking and didn’t have as bad an issue with the cold.

Boot already ripping at the seam

I started wearing these boots on Dec 22, 2021 and it's only January 4, 2022 and the seam has started to come apart on the left side seam. I'm so disappointed because they are very warm and being a US Postal Carrier (mailman), your feet get very cold instantly delivering mail in the US (Northeast). Tried calling customer support, no answer!

Found my Holy Grail of Insulated Boots!

Tried so many brands of insulated boots, each claiming warmth. Feet get cold while hiking with dogs, so much so use toes warmers. Some boots ok, others no. Read the reviews on these and was curious, as these are one of the few boots with Aerogel insulation. Worse thing that happens is I pack them off and return them. Half size up to an 11. Good. Wore around house for few days and felt fine. No feet issues. I have worn them at least 6 times hiking in snow with temps in teens, wind chill minus territory. Feet were comfy, no toe warmers needed. Small complaint is boot height. If it's warmth you want, these boots deliver

I never received my replacement boots

I ordered these in 10.5 US which is the size I wear but when they came in, they were too tight so I returned for a larger pair. Larger pair was supposedly put on hold and we waited and waited. I've contacted customer support several times and turns out replacement pair was never sent and they didn't even let me know. They didn't put my order on hold and gave me store credit. They didn't even put it back on my card. I not only don't have my boots but now I've paid a month's worth of interest on this purchase because they drug it on so long. This may very well be the 1st and last time I order from Backcountry. I am not happy at all. The boots may very well be great, looks like I won't know for now. Customer service is very bad.

Warm and dry

These heavily insulated and waterproof boots absolutely destroy snow, slush, and very cold water. Excellent for sledding with the kids, shoveling snow, and walking around in the snowy/icy winter. It's been in the low 30's here in Boston and I've been able to get around in just jeans and a jacket for several hours and feel very comfortable. Two points of caution. First, these boots are probably *too warm* if you're looking for something to wear while being active in the 40's. You might be better off with a less insulated boot. Second, the lugs on the bottom do not provide excellent traction. They're great to muck about in snow and slush and mud, but could stand to provide more grip on steep slippery hills and icy ground. If you're not sure about fit, I bought the lower of the two sizes I was considering and it was a perfect. They're not subject to some of the narrow footbed concerns I've hear about other Salomon shoes & boots.

I was really looking for something light, durable, and of course WARM. I can literally stand in an almost frozen shallow pond with these, and feel absolutely fine. I think the most shocking part is how LIGHTWEIGHT they are. They are insanely light, so if you love hiking, or backpacking in the winter, lighter boots means less effort and saving energy! Awesome product have used for winter hiking, winter camping, ice fishing, and just vernal walks in the local woods in snow / cold rain. Love them!

So I've eyed these for a while, but never had a reason to get them. I came to visit family in Colorado, and deep in the rockies we hit -17 F and it stayed around 15ish. These boots are phenomenal. When I wanna bum it I dont even lace them and they stay snug. Wore them in a blizzard in utah and was toasty. The wide toe cap was great for big socks even with my standard shoe size. ( I went a half size up since its all that was available , but have tried them on before and they still feel great) . The toe cap is reminiscent of a Mickey Mouse boot, and traps heat really well. The grip is awesome and I can tuck most pants into them without discomfort. They're light and I highly recommend.

Serious quality issues

If you are into risking hard material folds pressing into your feet, then these are just perfect for you. The pair that I got (just like many other Salomon footwear) have hard lumps of excess material in the right boot. I bought a high number of Salomon products in the past, and many came with funky material ridges in random places, when trying to address them with Salomon they don't care to even check them out even though it seems to be not just a one of situation.
