Why We Like The Session MIPS Helmet

Style meets ventilation for total comfort in all-mountain applications in the new Smith Session MIPS Helmet. This all-new cranium coverage keeps your noggin on lockdown with a combination of Smiths Koroyd technology and MIPS, shielding you from impacts both direct and oblique, so you can charge through rowdy rock gardens while staying ventilated as you weave your way through technical switchbacks to the top for round two. And Smith doesn't hold back on the good looks either, with a modern and sleek style that falls neatly between the previously loved Rover and Forefront, giving just a little more coverage than its cross-country cousin, but with less bulk than the enduro-ready Forefront.

I LOVE this helmet! I originally ordered one in a different color, but I ordered a Medium and it was too big. :( So I got the white and grey color in a small and it fits great! It let's air run through and I haven't had a sweaty head yet!

For my very first mountain bike adventure in Fruita, Co. this year i needed to get a new helmet and quick. I knew without a doubt that it was going to be a Smith helmet with their stellar reputation for a sleek design, reliability, and safety in mind. Crashes are inevitable, might as well protect that meat vehicle with one of the best helmets on the market. In the heat of Summer my head was well ventilated with 15 different vent ports. With MIPS and Koroyd technology being used in the design of this helmet you know your noggin is safe when you buckle in. Also on the S/M side and the M might be a little big. Still fits on the tightest setting, but i may go for a S next time.

Great Helmet!

A great helmet for the money, fits well, looks great and love the color and the way it sits on my head. I bought a large but returned it since it was way to big for my hat size 7 3/8 which the Medium fits well. Very comfortable and looks cool as well. I bought the Matte Mystic Green color and it’s very sharp looking.

I bought the Smith Session about one month ago and have loved using it. The finish on the product is really nice to the touch and feels high quality. The 3-position visor is great for storing glasses or goggles and also is great to flip up when you're climbing through a shady trail. The only point of complaint is the lack of padding, as many reviews denote. It could use a bit more padding on the rear but wasn't big enough of a drawback to downrate it. I wore this helmet about 20 times before taking a direct head impact on a gnarly downhill section. While I was bummed that I only got a month's use out of it, the helmet took an impressive impact. Just a little shaken up, I came away without any major injuries. I could tell the MIPS played a big role in the angled impact. The koroyd collapsed on either side of my head denoting that the helmet absorbed and dispersed the energy.

Nice Helmet

I have a 59cm oval-shaped head and the medium fits just about perfectly, without too much wiggle room on the sides and just enough room for a hat underneath. It definitely weighs more than my road helmet, but I never noticed the extra weight while riding. The adjustment mechanism is nice and feels solid, and the straps are easy to adjust and stay in place while riding. Overall the padding is good, the ventilation is good, and I think the styling is nice. The only downside I can think of is that there are no dedicated ports to stash sunglasses. That would bug me on a road helmet, but on a mountain helmet I don't care.

Percent fit

After trying on Fox, TLD, and several others I decided to go with the Smith. The fit was perfect and it seems to hug my head instead of squeeze it like some of the others. I really like the fact that it’s goggle friendly too. I love how ventilated it is, especially on those hot Moab rides in July. I have ye to test the mips and ima fine if I don’t ever have too. I do recommend this helmet with the smith goggles.
