Comfortable with Great Ventilation

Decent enough weight, not too bothersome even on long days of skiing, I well tend to forget it's on my head. They fit very well with my Smith I/O MAG ChromaPop Goggles with no figment issues. Ventilation is great and the helmet provides a great degree of variation in venting with two separately operating vent actuators. Keeps you warm. The boa system helps get a great fit, try biggest gripe is that my ears start to experience some soreness after a bit with them on.

True that it runs small

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

12.5 wide

I bought my Vantage on sale (not sure I would purchased at full price) over Black Friday and it just came in. I've been wearing it around my apartment because, well, #safety. My noggin measured 56-57cm circumference so I was going to get a medium but after reading reviews and seeing that the helmet runs small I decided I'd try a large first. My head feels perfectly “in” the helmet. The profile is low on top and the design of the helmet looks amazing. I expected it to look somewhat “dorky” being that it's a tech helmet but to my surprise it's one of the best looking helmets I've worn and I'm happy to say my steeze level shot up a solid 3 notches. The helmet's loose when first put on but I'm able to tighten the boa system to get a snug fit. I have to tighten it a fair amount to get it snug, as expected considering I'm 3cm smaller than the size chart yet there's still room to spare. When making this helmet fit as tight as possible then removing it, there are still 3-9 audible notches until maxed out. This gives me great options to 1) really crank down on my head if I so desire; if I ever want to get an immediate headache (although might be difficult with how dang comfortable this thing really is), 2) wear it normally and comfortably all day, and 3) put really any thickness of beanie I want on underneath the helmet as there's plenty of room. I won't be able to test out the warmth/ventilation until next weekend when I can finally shred but the design is awesome. The helmet fits perfectly under my jacket hood in case there are crappy conditions. My Airbrake goggles fit seamlessly without any gap (still waiting for my Flight Decks to arrive). And I absolutely love the sand/khaki color! I really couldn't have been more satisfied with my purchase and I can't wait to wear it all day for a true review. From the slight amount of time I've had it: IT'S WORTH THE PRICE (but see if you can get it on sale cause who doesn't love saving money). With the addition of a picture: I think it looks astounding from the front and would love to show that off however, I feel that as a viewer, you can pick up more information from a side view.

crazy small sizing

Size Bought:
10.5 Wide

I ordered a small for me and a xl for my husband after measuring carefully. They were both too small. I have a pin head by any standard...I wear kids glasses and can easily fit my 7 year olds ski helmet. The small was too small...not sure who they are building this for, but they need to get their size charts aligned with the actual fit of the helmets. Come on Smith pull your socks up!

Best combo of weight and comfort

Not the lightest, but pretty darn good. Backcountry? Sure, why not. Unless you have to have the lightest, which means you will sacrifice comfort. Me, I'll carry a few extra helmet ounces to guarantee comfort and safety. Frontside skiing, you won't find a better helmet. A bit expensive. I was initially annoyed by the price, but after a few days of skiing the price tag evaporated, and I was grateful for a piece of high quality gear. Lots of chatter out there about how it runs small. Not really true if you know the actual circumference of your head in cm. I was on the cusp of S/M and sized up to medium and fits well. No helmet is perfect. Worth the money.

WTH with Vantage sizing?!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Is Smith on something? How is this sizing correct?? There is NO WAY the head circumference/sizing described is accurate. As you may have guessed, I had to return the Vantage and switch to a different brand because their XL is more like an Large... even in their own line (the Quantum fits completely differently and true to size). I don't understand how after all the complaints and reviews, they continue to advertise the sizes the way they do... WTH are they smoking?

Good product, but Size is way off

Let me start by saying that I love Smith products and I have been using ski helmets for over 15 years now - Maze, Transport, etc. So, it was time to upgrade and based on the sizing charts I was Large, but base on the size of my previous Smith I went for the XL. I ordered Mission and Vantage. Vantage way too small to the point that gave me headaches in 5 min of wear, where Mission in the same size was fine. Needless to say I ended up with Mission, but would have kept this one if the fit was fine. Worth pointing is that neither one match the sizing chart either, and I did try some Giros at the store and I was L, as well as my bike helmet. As someone else mentioned, Smith really needs to address this issues if they want to increase sales. Great product when fits.

Great helmet. That’s a given. Smith’s customer service is really the reason to have allegiance to this company. I have experienced a 5 minute turn around time on a warranty claim.

New sizing and poor customer service

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I bought this helmet as a replacement for the XL Vantage I already own that is due for replacement. The new Vantage is the same high quality as my old one. However, despite what Smith's sizing charts claim, they have apparently made changes to the Vantage as my current XL Vantage fits perfectly and this XL Vantage does not fit at all. I called and explained this to backcountry.com and I'm still being forced to pay $6.99 to return a helmet that is not sized as claimed by the manufacturer. Thumbs down to Smith, thumbs down to backcountry.com customer service.
