Why We Like The Talus AT UltraDry Hiking Boot
The Vasque Women's Talus AT UltraDry Hiking Boot is backed by UltraDry waterproofing to fend off raindrops, snowflakes, and muddy trails all year long. Its nubuck leather upper is extremely durable for seasons of use, and there are mesh panels to ventilate breathability. Underfoot, the Talus has a dual-density footbed and a molded midsole underneath for responsive cushioning. A TPU shank adds stable support on technical terrain, and Vibram's Mega Nuasi rubber gives the sole enhanced traction on slippery surfaces.

Great 3 season boot for the PNW
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- Double
- Height:
- 5' 10"
- Weight:
- 165
I've hiked in 30°-90°F temps in these and knock off a star for 3 reasons: A-lack of traction on scree, gravel, ice, B-developed some hot spots in the heat while backpacking and get cold in the toes in cold temps (these were expected), C-had to go up a half size as they were a bit too narrow for me. Other than that I've been hiking up a storm without any issue in these boots. Been trekking on and off trail in the backcountry of Oregon in sun, rain, and snow without a leak. The leather does absorb moisture as can be expected, so I haven't taken them on a trip in the rain for longer than 2 days. Don't know how confident I would feel for them to keep my feet comfortable on the AT from amount of rain I hear about over there... Great boot though and will recommend to friends!

Have worn Vasque for the last 6 years and loved them. These come to high on the ankle and hurt. Had to return them.

Soles are trash in 4 months
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I've had these boots since April 2020 (it's early August 2020) and the soles have already busted out to the point I can't use them any more. I hike maybe once a week for a long day. There is no reason for them to go out like that. Don't waste your money on these. Pluses: Almost no break in time. And yes they are pretty water proof (but not when you have a hole in the sole)
