A Must Have for Indoor Training

I'm using the Wahoo Kickr Headwind fan with the Kickr Core trainer connected with the training app Zwift. Made a huge difference. I used to sweat like a pig. The fan can be set to automatically speed up based on riding speed (fan speed increases or decreases depending on how fast your riding, makes going "downhill" in Zwift feel like you really are), or you can connect it to your heart rate monitor and the fan will speed up or slow down based on how hard your working. A must have to for indoor training.

Great Addition for Indoor Biking

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I really debated buying this fan or whether to go with a regular fan. The reviews I found online were generally along the lines of: nice but not worth it for the price. This has really been a great addition to my indoor cycling set up. Last winter was my first year indoor cycling and I did it in a heated basement which I heated using a space heater. I am a sweater normally and I would leave pools of water on the floor even though it wasn’t that warm. All good, though, I didn’t think about it. This year I’ve upped my game a bit and I’ve now finished the basement and it is has real HVAC. I also purchased the Headwind, the Kick Climb, and the Kickr mat. I now have the Kickr complete setup with the exception of my table stand which is the cheaper Rad cycling one. The Headwind is probably my best addition besides the Kickr itself. What I like: - I can get on the bike and then turn on the fan from my phone when I’m ready. Small thing but one less thing for to me to do before getting on the bike. Nice convenience. - Directionally the fan is perfect. It hits my main body perfectly. I had seen a popular review that proposed putting the fan off to the side If you have the rolling table, logic being it would block it. I don’t get that. The face is missing some wind but nothing to worry about. The air comes up pretty well across my whole body and onto my face (I’m 6’ 2’’). I can straddle the lower table arm Like shown in Kickr produce images, as the Rad desk design isn’t compatible. However the wind would be even better positioned if so. - Strong fan. I’ve never had the fan above 50% and it puts out ample air. - I can adjust the wind speed from my phone while biking. Don’t like: - Louder hum when running TV an I expected but on Zwift biking I don’t think about it at all. I haven’t used the heart rate or speed based air speed settings in the first 2 weeks. Just the manual control. I just haven’t had the need to use them yet. So yes it is expensive and you could do with a regular fan but it is very nice! I think the biggest thing is just appreciating the difference that having wind on you while indoor cycling makes. If not this fan, get a regular fan if you have none and you will not regret it. To me there are some clear functionality differences between this fan and others though if you want to spend the money.
